Blue Origin , the notoriously - secretive space ship’s company , is launching its raw Shepherd work party capsule this weekend . And , for the first time , you ’re going to be able to watch it encounter — properly up to a pretty probable crash - landing .
The program is to set in motion New Shepherd using one of its BE-3 rocket engines and begin some maneuvering tests of the ejector seat . But , seven minute into the flight , something alarming is going to take spot : one of the capsule ’s parachutes is going to go bad . On purpose .
Although raw Shepherd is designed as a crew capsule , it will be empty on this run , which is an attack to stress test the capsule . Like the old Apollo flight of stairs , New Shepherd employ a triple parachute combo to add drag to the abridgment as it come in for a touchdown .
