Talking to the British Observer paper , Gillan enthused about young fellow , Amy :

Amy ’s a sassy lady , funny and passionate , and her relationship with the Doctor of the Church has a really interesting dynamic … She has a love for him , a really abstruse love for him . But not romantic . It ’s been an teaching in itself to work with Matt , who ’s so incessantly inventive , bringing something new to it every day rather than fall down into the well-heeled default scared - face . That ’s one of the challenge ; you ’re face with life - threatening situations every instalment , but you ca n’t just extend your eyes all the time . Yes , this doctor is preeeetty good .
