The cold conditions currently receive across North America has land a few surprisal recently – from beingtoo cold for even penguinstoNiagara Falls freeze over . The weirdest so far though has to be that of frozen lizards rain down from trees in Florida , and shortly thereafter thawing out and return to life-time .
Temperatures in Florida dip to an extremely chilly 5 ° snow ( 40 ° F ) yesterday . Whilst humans were warned to wrap up strong , iguanas were not mail the memoranda . As a solvent , many people in Florida were recognize by the mint of glacial iguanas scattered on the earth when they arouse up on Thursday morning .
They look pretty dead , huh ? Well they probably are n’t , and there ’s a good opportunity that if you leave them out in the Sun they ’ll thaw out and recover all by themselves . One Florida occupant , Kay Pavkovich , posted a video of her moving the lizard to a nice warm bit of Sun . Very chop-chop , the iguana recoil back to life , although experts are not advocating people moving the reptiles .
The iguanas seem to have been momentarily immobilized . All reptilian are dusty - full-blood , so when the temperature drop they start to slow down down . However , if their temperature throw below 5 ° C ( 40 ° F ) , their bloodline stops moving around their body decent , and they become immobile , Kristen Sommers of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commissiontold the Washington Post .
This fast res publica is two-sided . When they ’re left out in the Sun their profligate set out to move again due to the warmth , and they return to normal iguana activities . However , Sommers advised that if you do across a frozen lizard , you should leave them where they are . When they get around , they may be passably confused and frightened by the experience .
“ Like any wild animal , it will attempt to fight itself , ” she said .
The dusty weather condition is n’t only affecting iguanas . The same thing is pass off to sea turtles in Texas .
Sharks are not escaping the cold either . Several sharks have been find quick-frozen solid last hebdomad , as temperatures really started to drop .
So stay quick , leave common iguana alone , and whatever you do , do n’t do what this humankind ’s friend did and bag them up and take them to the dump . It will not end well .
