The season finis of Game of Thrones had plenty of twists and turns , even if many of them were expected . One of the biggest took place in Winterfell at the culmination of the Arya - vs.-Sansa conflict — inarguably the season ’s bad storyline — but seemingly come out of nowhere . As it sprain out , the show cut a central scenery that would ’ve explain it all , but also made the whole jam worse .
Game of Thrones screwed the pooch with Arya and Sansa ’s plot line , turn what could ’ve been a battle of ideals into a nonsensical female rivalry that almost ended in one of their end . That is , until it was let out in the season finale that Sansa Stark was n’t really going to kill Arya , but was rather putting Littlefinger on trial for his crimes against her family unit and Westeros as a whole .
The destiny that lead to Littlefinger ’s last were quite equivocal , leading some devotee to meditate that Sansa and Arya had been secretly plotting against Littlefinger the entire time . However , that does n’t appear to be the case . Isaac Hampstead - Wright , who plays Bran , toldVarietythat the showrunners cut a scene that explain how Sansa ended up turning on Littlefinger . And it all follow down to that damn Three - Eyed Raven :
“ We actually did a scene that clearly got cut , a short scene with Sansa where she knocks on Bran ’s threshold and pronounce , ‘ I ask your help , ’ or something along those line of descent . So essentially , as far as I have intercourse , the level was that it suddenly pass off to Sansa that she had a huge CCTV section at her delicacy and it might be a skilful idea to ascertain with him first before she guts her own sister . So she plump to Bran , and Bran tells her everything she need to have it off , and she ’s like , ‘ Oh , tinker’s dam . ’ ”
If Hampstead - Wright is to be believed , that mean Sansa flummox the scoop from her personal Google Search Tool , and that ended up saving Arya from the chopping block . If that ’s the case , Arya was n’t help Sansa at all ( at least before Bran got involved ) , and was on the QT threatening to stamp out her sister for who the hell knows . Pretty dresses , I venture .
Of course , it ’s also potential that Hampstead - Wright misconstrue the nature of the shot , and that Sansa was release to Bran for the final pieces to the puzzle that she and Arya had already bulge out to put together . But it would ’ve been prissy to really see that fall out in some way , rather of have to make a complex straits canon to justify uncompleted storytelling .
It just goes to show that this whole plot line failed Arya as a character , and only barely answer Sansa until the very final stage , just so the sisters ’ storyline could have a last - minute twist . But hey , at least we engender that badass “ slow assimilator ” line .
