After a six calendar month journey and grip landing sequence , NASA ’s InSight lander has already returned its first mental image of the Martian airfoil .
The look-alike shown on the NASA flow certify dust speckling InSight ’s television camera , and it shows what looks like the Martian visible horizon .
InSight fell to Mars carry three scientific instruments , one for measuring heat feed out of the major planet , a seismometer , and a radio antennae measuring the position of Mars ’ North pole . It successfully deployed its chute , fired its thrusters and bring down today , at 2:54 PM ET , attach to by a pair of CubeSats that relayed information back to Earth . At 3:01 PM ET , InSight ping the world now .

It was n’t clear whether or not the investigation would immediately return an effigy , as it touched down onto the surface and waited for the dust to fall . But , to cap off a flawless landing place , the probe successfully beamed back the pic to the applause of NASA scientists .
The television camera that riposte the figure will be used to figure out where InSight ’s robotic arms will rate the probe ’s pawn . InSight ’s landing place was a sucess — nowthe science begins .
