On Wednesday, theToday with Hoda & Jennaco-hosts shared their holiday single “A Carefree Christmas,” along with a music video which premiered during the show.
To support the release, they shared the music videoon Instagramwith the caption: “A Carefree Christmas with Hoda and Jenna” is out NOW! 🤩🎄🎁 Thank you to the amazing@cherylporterdivafor working with us on this track, we love you ❤️. Head to the link in bio to stream!"
“It’s gonna be a carefree Christmas, stop and smell the pine,” they sing on the track. “Boughs of holly make us jolly, we’re all feeling fine.”
In the music video, Kotb, 59, and Bush Hager, 42, can be seen singing alongside their vocal coach Cheryl Porter — a trained opera singer with more than 20 years of experience, per herofficial website— in sparkly shirts and Santa hats as they enjoy Christmas cookies, toss snowballs and show off presents.
Throughout the visual, the duo also reps their hometown as Hager, a Texas native, sports a red cowboy hat, while Kotb accessorizes with red and green beads in an homage to New Orleans.
“Make it Texas big! And NOLA fun!” they sing.
After premiering the music video, Kotb and Bush Hager praised Porter for helping them harmonize.
“We love Cheryl so much. Without Cheryl, our song would sound a lot worse. Not only did she help us, but she sang a lot of it,” Bush Hager said duringWednesday’s segment.
The pair then bantered about whether or not the song would chart.
“Look, people are saying there’s no way it’s going to chart,” to which Bush Hager replied, “Whosaid that?Whosaid it’s not gonna chart?”
Kotb called those people “negative nellies.”
“Why don’t we prove everybody wrong?” Kotb asked Bush Hager.

Kotb and Bush Hager initially shared the album art on Monday, perTODAY.com.
“The star of the show is not pictured here,” Kotb said, referring to the cover art, which features theTodaystars sporting red scarves and Santa Claus hats while embracing, without their collaborator Porter, to which Bush Hager added: “Cheryl is the star of the show.”
“Cheryl is a person who can teach anyone to sing,” Kotb continued. “She has her own technique. She’s amazing. She is like joy personified. She ran us through the paces, had us try to learn.”
