On Monday’s episode ofThe Daily Show, Stewart interviewed Federal Trade Commission Chair Lina Khan and alleged that Apple would not allow him to invite her on his former series.
“I’ve got to tell you, I wanted to have you on a podcast and Apple asked us not to do it, to have you. They literally said, ‘Please don’t talk to her,'” the comedian, 61, told Khan, who has served as FTC chair since June 2021.
“Having nothing to do with what you do for a living … I didn’t think they cared for you is what happened,” he jokingly added.

Stewart — whoreturned toThe Daily Showin February — also claimed that Apple stopped him from discussing artificial intelligence onThe Problem.
“They wouldn’t let us do that dumb thing we did in the first act on AI,” Stewart said, referring to a segment which made fun of AI.
“What is that sensitivity? Why are they so afraid to even have these conversations out in the public sphere?” he added.
Apple did not immediately return PEOPLE’s request for comment.
The interview comes after the Department of Justice filed an antitrust suit againstApplefor allegedly monopolizing the smartphone market and participating in anti-competitive practices last month. According toa press releasefrom the DOJ, “Apple exercises its monopoly power to extract more money from consumers, developers, content creators, artists, publishers, small businesses, and merchants, among others.”
Khan has also taken action against major tech companies, including Amazon and Meta.
